Alongside making of my two works shown at Current Affairs, You Were Farming Rice, Now You're Farming Clicks and Xiangkai Network Experience Co., Ltd., I was actively researching and writing about Chinese network cultures and their surfacing on the Western internet. Deeply immersed in the topic, I have never asked myself the question of why am I so enthralled by it. This essay is an attempt at analyzing the online side of The Chinese Century, and most importantly—my place within it.
